ADR MENTORSHIPS
FELLOW CASSANDRA J. GEORGES, ESQUIRE
The Fellowship was a one-year practicum in ADR modeled after a medical internship or residency program. It was inspired by the remarks of Professor Frank E.A. Sander at the wonderful Fireside Chat that Harvard Law graduate Jeff Kichaven moderated at the April 2006 International Academy of Mediators conference at Harvard. This mentorship program provided a monthly stipend to the Fellow and payment of dues to various ADR organizations and attendance at conferences. In September of 2007, Cassandra J. Georges, Esq. ended her one-year ADR mentorship with Mr. Creo.
Ms. Georges, a Philadelphia native, is a 2005 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School and Penn’s undergraduate program in 2001. While at Penn, she developed an interest in mediation and engaged in several clinics and other training programs. She started her 12-month Fellowship in Mr. Creo’s Pittsburgh office. Among other things, she attended Mr. Creo’s mediation and arbitration cases, observed training sessions, and assisted in the preparation and coordination of mediation cases.
DIEDRE S. POWELL, ESQUIRE INTERNSHIP
While receiving her LLM at the University of London (Queen Mary) (United Kingdom), Ms. Powell did a 12 week intensive internship in the Spring of 2006 with Mr. Creo in his Pittsburgh office. A native of Jamaica, Ms. Powell received her BSc. in International Relations from the University of the West Indes (Mona) and her LL.B, Bachelor of Laws at the University of the West Indies (Cave Hill).
The internship involved the attendance at arbitration hearings and mediation sessions, assistance in the drafting of awards, and participation at professional conferences. Ms. Powell is now a resident in Ottawa, where she is active as a practitioner and neutral.
